It's not typical nor Izzy-like at all! :D Franklin has a 0.90 WHIP and has only walked 12 all season in 48+ innings, today included. Franlkin might not actually be as good as he has been in terms of his talent, but in terms of his results he has been an elite closer this year, as good if not better than Izzy even in his best years (that's not a knock on Izzy, but a recognition of what Franklin has accomplished this year). He doesn't strike out as many batters as the names usually associated with elite closers, so maybe that's why his success might not be sustainable into the future. But aside from strikeouts, his numbers and results have been up there with Mariano Rivera and any other closer in baseball this year.

Padres optioned RHP Cesar Carillio to Triple-A Portland.
Carillo doesn't belong anywhere near a major league roster right now. He walked six Cardinals Sunday over two innings and holds a 13.06 ERA in 10 1/3 innings. The Padres called up Adam Russell in a corresponding move.
