I officially have a Missouri medical marijuana card. It was the easiest thing in the world to get. I figured the doctor was going to rubber-stamp me, and he did, but I didn't even speak to him before-- just that he read the questionnaire I answered, called me and said "I will recommend you." The state approved me two days later.

Stupid question. But what does a medical do for you now that it's legal?

Taxes are cheaper on medicinal and you can buy double your monthly allotment. In addition, my workplace can’t fire me for using on my own time with a medical card.

But, when will they change employment drug testing policies to no longer include THC in the panel? For example, I could be visibly intoxicated one day at work and so I get asked to take a drug test later that week but pass because I hadn't been drinking the day of the test. However, because I smoked a joint about 30 days ago during my time off, I lose my job because my urine has THC...

A bill was killed in the Florida state house that would protect medical patients from "adverse employment actions." I'm guessing some other, less ridiculous states have passed that kind of legislation. Worth looking into in your local areas.

Good point Uncle Baby Billy. Of course Florida killed that notion.

As I understand it, as long as pot is on the federal controlled substances list, employers in states that don't have specific protections can take adverse actions after positive THC tests. Even states that have legalized/decriminalized. I spoke to the HR director off the record at my last job and he said, they would rarely take adverse actions in states where it is legal or in cases where the employee has a medical card, but it does affect things like operating company vehicles and stuff like that adversely, so it's one of those things where if they want to get rid of you they'll use it, if they don't, they won't, which is pretty messed up.
