I think it might actually be the first time in human history this has ever been done. Obviously, infectious disease cures have been developed for other things before, but it usually takes too long and you are hard pressed to see the impact in the macro data.IMADreamer wrote: ↑August 27 24, 1:20 pmI hope it was a once in a lifetime event because let's say something like that happens again, but worse. Our society just can't handle it. That's my big take away from all of it, is that we just can't handle big difficult things like that any more.
Infectious disease has a top placement for humanity's greatest enemies and we've figured out how to go from "never seen it before" to highly protective medicine in record time. It really bums me out that we aren't able to see that as something to be proud of.

Re: Coronavirus
It appears that my mother has recovered from her fight with the COVID. She is 92, and has operated with one lung since the 80's so we figured if she ever got it, that would be very bad. I got a call a week ago Sunday that they had called in a chaplain and was preparing for the worst. We made it to see her a couple of days, and she was in tough shape. But today she has been released from the hospital and will begin therapy.
I am fully prepared for the day that she isn't with us, and don't want her to be in a situation where she is suffering, but I can't help but be happy that it wasn't yet her time.

Re: Coronavirus
That is good to hear Leroy.
I got Covid, er, it hit me on 9/27 (friday) and the first ~36 hours were rough. Basically lost the entire next week. Tried to go in to the office on that Thursday but left after 10 mins. Wasn't until this past weekend that it started clearing out of my system. Very first time I'd gotten it, after all this time, though I do think it's been making its way thru GJ lately. My bones and body hurt those first couple days. Had the brain fog, tiredness/weakness. Then it was headaches and a cough. I must have had a fever too, 'cause i was having the chills for a lot of it. Very weird experience, just grateful it wasn't worse (as far as I know).

That's wonderful news about your mother, Leroy. I do hope she isn't in pain, and that she continues to recover.

Re: Coronavirus
A guy I know and respect a good deal just posted about something he found while doing research on fighting covid and other viruses. I haven't heard of this one.
Monolauren
He says it's only found in breast milk and coconuts. Says that it weakens the membranes of the virus, allowing your system to get rid of it a lot faster.
He's no antivaxxer or ivermectin honk. So I'm really curious if anyone has heard of this before.
@AWvsCBsteeeerike3 I'm especially interested in your view on this.
