W the lead and like 12 minutes left...up by a field goal btw.... msu tries an onsides sort of thing type onsides kick and of course diesnt recover. Just bc u know. Thats what sound defensive teams do given a 3 point lead in the 4th quarter.

Most writers on Twitter are saying Cotton Bowl vs. Oklahoma State is where we'll end up. I'd be okay with that.
Just an aside-- but I've always thought the Cotton should be a BCS game over the Fiesta Bowl.

I'm ok with it, just because I respect the Cotton Bowl. But in a perfect world, I'd rather avoid a Big XII rematch that we've seen a billion times. Both the Capital One and the Outback are against the Big Ten, and it'd be cool to see them play Wisconsin or Minnesota (or… I guess even Iowa). Hell, if they played 'Sconnie, I'd have a thousand side bets with friends.

The pecking order the past few years has always seemed to be the champ goes to the nc game. The next best team (bama in this case) gets a bcs game like the sugar bowl, the next best team (mizzou or sc) gets the cotton. Atm was there last year, arkansas iirc the year before and lsu the year before. Prettt good teams that fell just short. Also, isnt the cotton bowl being added to the bcs lineup next year and will be the big xii vs sec....kinda like the rose bowl is b1g and pac xii?

As a side note, Mizzou was the last Big XII team to win a Cotton Bowl game back in the 2007 season Jan 1, 2008 was the date of the game.

I thought I heard somewhere that the Cotton was supposed to take an SEC West team and the Outback is SEC East. With wiggle room, of course, to take from the other divisions if they choose.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:The pecking order the past few years has always seemed to be the champ goes to the nc game. And in this case, it's moot anyway- Mizzou might as well be SEC West, geographically, and I'm sure the Cotton would be thrilled to have them.
You are correct re: the Cotton- next year, it'll be on equal footing with the Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and Chick-fil-A, in the rotation each year to be a semifinal playoff site. I assume that has everything to do with market size- Atlanta and Dallas, LA, Miami, New Orleans, and Phoenix.

Re: Mizzou football '13
Huh, I hadn't heard that it was the SEC west, but it sure looks like they prefer west teams. Like you said, it's probably more of a geography thing than a written rule. Cotton gets to pick, iirc, right after the BCS teams are chosen, so yeah Mizzou would be a good team for them both talent and geography wise.

The pecking order is BCS, then Cap One, then Cotton, then Outback.
