I don't know if this has been posted yet but it really fits the situation.

Is your grandmother a good bet to post a 4.00 ERA as a National League starting pitcher?cpebbles wrote:I guess if Mozeliak wanted to stick my grandmother in the rotation to justify trading Rasmus for Livan Hernandez this would make sense too? The fact that he has stuck with a sub-replacement level pitcher for a month doesn't set a new baseline for replacement-level play.Vidor wrote:You can't say how much better he is than Suppworth (really Hawksworth for the moment, I guess, although for the long term that's still up in the air) is irrelevant. It's hugely relevant. We are taking starts from a pitcher that is godawful, whichever one of them that is, and giving them to one who is a LAIM at worst and possibly quite a bit better.cpebbles wrote:Only because Mozeliak decided to trade a ~3 win player for a ~1.5 win player, rather than picking up some freely-available talent.

Trading Luddy to a team we could meet in the playoffs wasn't the smartest thing to do...especially since getting Westbrook would have only cost us a prospect.Vidor wrote:Best baseball fans in America, folks.TimeForGuinness wrote:I can't wait for Luddy to hit a bomb off of Westbrook in the playoffs...
I hope Westbrook works out...but I find it funny that this trade could end up biting us in the butt during the playoffs. Luddy was not the lesser of the players traded.

So if Westbrook strikes Luddy out in the playoffs, that makes Mo a genius instead?

I sure as hell hope this wasn't some TLR/Ludwick conflict that had an influence on this trade.

Everybody assumed that TLR hated Rasmus, and he's still on the team.
People read too much into TLR "possibly" hating player XYZ. The conspiracy theories are almost comical at this point.

Trying to figure out why such a dumb trade was made, I guess.Vidor wrote:Where do people get this?jim wrote:I sure as hell hope this wasn't some TLR/Ludwick conflict that had an influence on this trade.

You're not getting it. Suppan pitching below replacement level does not negate the concept of replacement level. By definition, replacement-level starters were freely available, and thus that is what Westbrook should be compared against.Vidor wrote:Is your grandmother a good bet to post a 4.00 ERA as a National League starting pitcher?cpebbles wrote:I guess if Mozeliak wanted to stick my grandmother in the rotation to justify trading Rasmus for Livan Hernandez this would make sense too?
