I found this, from some South Carolina newspaper talking about potential landing places for the Gamecocks:

The Capital One Bowl gets first pick of SEC teams after the BCS process is complete. The Outback Bowl, located in Tampa, then gets first pick among SEC East teams, while the Cotton Bowl gets first pick among SEC West teams.

One potential scenario is a trade, sending an SEC West team to the Outback and an SEC East team to the Cotton.

But, that hardly seems like an ironclad rule. I guess it's just simple geography, with the Capital One figuring that East teams will travel better and the Cotton feeling the same about the West.

Reading all of that really made me realize how much more I'd rather go to the Capital One. The Cotton is great and all, but Mizzou has never been to the Capital One and it adds to the new, fun, weirdness of being in the SEC. It would make me feel even more like Mizzou is officially an SEC team now. Before they joined the SEC, if you asked me to compile a list of things that made me think of the SEC, the Capital One is one of the things I would have listed. The Cotton is definitely not.

Capital One would've been great, and I understand the want to play a non Big 12 team, but short of making a BCS game, part of me really does think that this is the best scenario for Mizzou. Running up the scoreboard in the Jerry Dome in front of a bunch of recruits from Texas sounds like everything Pinkel could ask for.

With Mizzou not likely to get a BCS spot, I hope they can play in the Cotton Bowl with Chik-Fil-A Bowl being the 2nd choice. But I would really like to see Missouri vs. Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl.

Joe Strauss is putting on a wonderful troll show on Twitter.

If MU were in a geographically correct SEC West it's likely they would have been a 3-loss team. Alignment, schedule matter.

Bama, Auburn & LSU? That last one is probably more like a 50/50 game. Also, if you're putting Mizzou in the "geographically correct" SEC West, then you have to move Auburn to the "geographically correct" SEC East.

LSU beat AU; AU beat Bama; UGA beat SC; Bama rolled LSU. SC beat MU. Just asking about MU's best win.

It's Georgia. Also-- LSU beat an Auburn team that hadn't found its rhythm while playing in a hurricane.

Ole Miss (LSU) and Tennessee (SC) also had better wins. Just saying.

Mizzou beat both of those teams and curb-stomped the Vols. Just saying.

I almost wish he'd just say I openly root against the teams I cover.

Their best win was ole miss or atm. GA was not a good team this year. Ole Miss rolled Texas and beat LSU, even if they finished last in the west.

Ole Miss also lost to Misissippi St., only beat Arkansas by 10, and only beat SEMO by 18. The Texas win looked less and less significant the further Texas got into their season. Ole Miss was a very schizophrenic team.

Georgia kind of had a tale of two seasons. Early in the year, they were very good but inexperienced. Then by the time their talented kiddie defense got experience, their entire offense got hurt. All things considered, I'd say 8 wins was a decent year for them. And at full strength- before the injuries- I'd definitely have them better than Ole Miss.

Using Bill Connelly's S&P, he's got Georgia (#17) as their best win, followed by A&M (#18), Ole Miss (#30), Indiana (#45), Florida (#46), Toledo (#53), Tennessee (#67), Vandy (#73), Kentucky (#96), and Arkansas State (#98).

Either way, [expletive] Joe Strauss with a big splintery baseball bat.
