Tyler O'Neill injury update: Latest news on Boston Red Sox outfielder

O'Neill has missed time this season, his first in Boston, due to stitches in his head, a knee injury, a leg infection and now finger inflammation that led to the 29-year-old being scratched from Friday's lineup.

“Not ready for today," Cora said. "We’re shooting for tomorrow. Feeling better. He’ll hit during the game to see how it goes but most likely he’ll play tomorrow.”

It seems obvious at this point that Tyler is somewhat prone to injury.

The bottom line is how much he can produce in the 120 or so games he plays.

Pirates LHP Marco Gonzales will have surgery to repair a flexor tendon in his left elbow in September and is expected to miss 9-12 months.
It’s a brutal blow for the veteran who was injured in early August. He has battled forearm/elbow injuries over the last few years and will face an extended recovery as he tries to make his way back in 2025 in what will be his age-33 season.
