Not sure who is on our bench this season that plays SS but if we hadn't lost the Pallante arbitration we might have been able to afford DeJong.

I think he is fine as a bench bat back up SS. His 24 homers would have led the team last season. But it wouldn't make sense to bring him back anyway when they are going cheap.
I don't think so. The bar is pretty damned low since they have to elect a few every year. It'll be a participation trophy in a decade or two.
