Neat. Might have to peruse if I get some time. Thanks for passing along.
You're welcome. This is only supposed to be available to certain media and coaches I think lol.

Noticed game IDs in the URL and randomly tried and it worked. Surprised it wasn't protected with any type of Auth cookie. Enjoy while it lasts. Not all games have Statcast events. Especially rough weather games. But most do. You can even go all the way to Palm Beach low A.

Lacking base running because that isn't part of in-game Statcast yet. Bummed me because I wanted to settle Gorman speed arguments lol.

Please share any interesting findings if you see anything. Always appreciate your insight on the prospects. Early observations from me: Yepez smacks the ball 110+ EV often.

The exit velocity numbers and velocity of pitchers is excellent data to have.

im prolly in the minority here but gorman's 36% k-rate leaves alot to be desired. cant really see how he helps this offense right now.

i guess it helps that the cards have the lowest strikeout rate in the league right now (if i heard that right), but still that k-rate needs to come down or else he's going to flop in this lineup.

small sample size of course.

Isn’t the K rate palatable if he’s walking to counter? All that matters is the ratio.

Joey Gallo is still extremely valuable and you take him over 5-6 guys in the lineup.

I slide Edman to SS and Gorman to 2B and drop DeJong.

He had 19% last year in AAA.

At a certain point the nominal K rate matters because he has to go up a level. The pitchers are better and smarter and if a hitter has enough issues/holes to have that much swing and miss at AAA, it likely gets worse in MLB. Same thing in the opposite direction with walk rate. You see a similar concept with BABIP luck for hitting prospects, especially at lower levels. Yes, a hitter could be unlucky with BABIP, but in a decent enough sample if you have a low BABIP it's just as much an indictment of your hit tool which is indicative of problems you'll have at higher levels.

As it relates to Gorman in particular, it's a strange juxtaposition to his past performance in both directions. Like any modern power hitter he's going to have swing and miss, and though he does have the excuse of being young for his levels, that AAA spell was the only stop in his pro career his K rate has dipped below 25%, which means that much swing and miss this year is not a good omen for him transitioning to MLB quickly. He's also hitting the bejeezus out of the ball when not striking out, so the question is can he at least strike out at career norms while keeping some of that uptick in production. Said more simply, Gorman's pre-AAA career says legit power prospect with some K risk, his first AAA stint says surefire major leaguer with low K risk but not great performance, and his 2022 AAA performance says legit power hitter with huge K risk. To me that 2022 performance doesn't answer the questions you had about his readiness for MLB that you might have had before the season, but it doesn't cast a shadow on his future either. So you leave him in AAA for a while longer to see if those questions start to answer themselves in one direction or another.

I can't argue with that analysis. Also, I'm still super optimistic for Gorman's future.

Cardinals RHP prospect Michael McGreevy struck out seven over six innings of one-run baseball for High-A Peorida on Thursday.

McGreevy scattered seven hits, and he didn’t issue a walk. He has been outstanding thus far for the Chiefs with a 0.51 ERA and 16/1 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings. The Cardinals took McGreevy with the 18th pick of the 2021 draft out of UC Santa Barbara, and the 21-year-old has a four-pitch mix from a 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, and two of those pitches are above-average in his slider and fastball. His stuff plays up because of his control, and the command isn’t far behind. McGreevy isn’t a future top-of-the-rotation arm, but it’s easy to see him being a mid-rotation arm, and easy to see it occurring by the end of 2023.

Cardinals INF prospect Jordan Walker stole two bases while going 2-for-5 for Double-A Springfield on Sunday.

Walker also drove in a pair of runs in the contest. The pair of thefts give the 19-year-old five on the season, and he’s hitting .333 over his 13 games with the Double-A Cardinals. Walker’s best tool is his power, and he should start tapping more into it as he gets deeper into the season. The ball jumps off his bat, and he has a chance to be a contributor in multiple categories when all is said and done. Walker has star potential, and could be a regular by the time next season comes to an end.
