I would think Ed Wade would be ask a fortune to trade Oswalt to one of his chief rivals.

Not that I would mind it if it were to happen, but I just can't see that happening.

1. It's Ed Wade.
2. The Astros are several years away from doing anything. They should take the best deal regardless of who it is.

On our end, I cannot see us taking on his contract.

I have no idea how Oswalt hasn't blown his arm out by now. He's so small and his delivery is so violent. I'd much rather have Haren at 12.75 for two years than have Oswalt at 16 for two years. That's 3 million more you can offer Pujols.

Do you not believe the reports that Mo is talking to the Astros?

Likely just kicking the tires.

I don't really see the Cardinals taking on any contract. With as well as they are playing it's a perfect scenario for the FO to say they are standing pat and we have some just as good as a trades coming off the DL. I will be pleasantly surprised if any impact move is made.

1. Pride is stronger than stupidity.

2. In this case, hopefully stupidity will outweigh pride.

Probably so. But De Witt said the Cards have room to take on payroll in a recent interview but the issue was the future and a bare cupboard. Of course likely paraphrasing inaccurately.

per Bernie's twitter:
About Oswalt rumor; a scout I know sez Cardinals are poking around but not sure how serious it is. Same with Haren. Longshots. We'll see.

Oswalt is also apparetly willing to restructure his option year next year ($16mil) to come to us.

I heard today on the radio that a stipulation ofhim being traded is that the team who he is traded to HAS to pick upt he option.
