What's up with locking threads that haven't got nasty? Is it some sort of pre-emptive move?

Yep. When it's two or three people rehashing the same stuff after a few days, it can be taken to pm's.

But aren't most threads two or three people rehashing the same stuff after a few days? I mean, without Liz Rizzo to galvanize the GRB populace into a virtual salacious mob, it's generally a handful of posters beating some horse to death.

What? Our posting culture is a rainbow of diversity. Why, there's no way you could list 10-15 posters and have everyone else describe their posting style and beliefs on a variety of subjects.

I should have added threads about topics that have in the past caused unnecessary conflict when allowed to be carried to their natural conclusion.
