What's the deadline they need to have to get a deal done before they cancel the Winter Classic?

So I've heard if something isn't done by the end this weekend then they are just talking about canceling the season since they're so far apart? Would they really just cancel the whole thing this soon?

That doesn't sound very accurate. I believe the deadline was today in order to play a full 82 game schedule. Seems incredibly unlikely that they would go from 82 games to 0 in the span of a couple days.cardinalkarp wrote:So I've heard if something isn't done by the end this weekend then they are just talking about canceling the season since they're so far apart? That was my thought as well but that is just what I had heard. I think it was because they said both saids were so far apart on negotiations they were just going scrap the entire thing. IF they pull that I'm going to be VERY turned off by the NHL.Popeye_Card wrote:That doesn't sound very accurate. I believe the deadline was today in order to play a full 82 game schedule. The current plan is for the Winter Classic to take place at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. If the game doesn't take place this year does that venue just get pushed back to host the game the following year?

Re: NHL lockout?
My guess would be "probably", as long as they can come to a similar contractual agreement for use of the facility.JoeMcKim wrote:The current plan is for the Winter Classic to take place at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. The NHL Players Union needs to get rid of Donald Fehr, no matter where he goes he wrecks havok in the sports where he's supposed to be representing the players.
