I still don't understand what the big frickin' deal is. Mike is a stud football player. There's really nothing else interesting about the situation.

Right. That's why all the other gay athletes have come out.

Anyway, so who's going to be the established player who sacks up and comes out? If several did at the same time it would make this process easier on everyone I imagine.

Yeah it's not interesting that someone is brave enough to live openly in a way that society has marginalized unjustly while making it easier for other people to feel empowered to do the same. Who wants to even hear about something like that? Get over it already!

I get all that.

Just interesting how the media is going crazy with it. It's just a gay guy saying he's gay. I thought being gay in this day and age was getting pretty close to being the norm. Now it's like OOOH he's a football player and he's GAY! WOW WEE!

He's gay. Neato. I'm happy he's happy. Why all the fuss by the media, though. There's nothing to see there. Move on.

The media will move on. This will pop up again during the combine, during training camp, but the initial wave of interest is done.

I look forward to the day that is the case. But, if it wasn't a big deal, another active NFL player would've come out a long time ago.

Come on. You don't really believe that. It's like saying Jackie Robinson wasn't newsworthy. I think most people are ready for the day, looking forward to it even, when this isn't a big deal and when equality and acceptance reigns. But, at the moment, it is important and it should be because there are prejudices in the NFL and world, and this helps dampen those prejudices.
