12 MORE DAYS

My wife and I got back about 11pm last night, Mike is still down there until tomorrow morning. Our flight out was scheduled to leave at 6:00 AM and land at 9:59 AM in Cancun. We arrived at the airport parking a few minutes before 4AM, arrived at the terminal at about 4:15, and were sitting at the departure gate before 5AM. Flight boarded, was actually on the runway and taking off at 6:01, and we arrived in Cancun almost an hour early.

Our friends all flew from St. Louis, leaving at 6AM as well. They too had no problems, landed early. We actually took the same transportation from the airport to the resort, it was pretty cool because they told the guy we were in customs and would be out in a few minutes (we had texted), and waited for us. When the guy took us to our transport he said he had a big surprise for us, I figured a sales pitch. Walked on the bus and there they were with shots of Fireball waiting for us.

Awesome trip. The only downside was that we only had all of us together for Fri-Sun, one couple couldn't get there until Friday and we left Sunday. I wish we had more time.

That's actually the only time I can recall Mike actually standing up. If there was any question as to who can outdrink who, that question was answered in Mexico.

And the answer to that question is Kim. I didn't know that girl could drink like that.

One thing that pissed me off a little about this trip were all the damn Canadians that were there.

Last night I went into my hot tub here at home for the first time since Mexico. About 10 minutes in I felt like I had to go to the bathroom so I just started peeing, and then realized I wasn't in Mexico anymore and this was my own hot tub and had to put brakes on pronto. I never used the bathroom when I was in the pool or ocean down there. I would go in the ocean every hour or so to cool off/pee, and then every day around 4-4:30 we would head to the pool where they had some swim up bars. We would close those down at about 6, and it was great because I never had to take a break. I would do the polite thing and swim away from the bar area a bit, but I didn't get out.

When I was in the water last night it just seemed the most natural thing in the world to start peeing. A reflex almost.

I also had my first drop of alcohol since I returned, I had a beer at about 1pm on Sunday and then last night I had two beers - 96 hours? That's pretty good for me. I didn't miss it, I'll tell you that much. De-tox was welcome.

The other thing I forgot to mention was I met the beer vendor that worked the section I was in for game 3 of the 2013 WS. He did his beer call which is how I remembered him.
