According to sources, Seattle did not select Vladimir Tarasenko in the expansion draft.

Early indications have Vince Dunn as the pick going to the Kraken, but that is subject to change. Tarasenko was talked about as a potential for Seattle and trade possibilities to other teams were apparently discussed.

So this means the Blues will get more than just salary relief for Tarasenko, right?
If a deal can be found, yes.

I could see the blues not getting decent offers and basically telling tank, “make yourself tradeable”. If tank is sitting at the deadline with 15+ goals, the blues will get a lot for him.
I don’t think army cares about a return as long as he doesn’t have to retain any $

So I could see a no name prospect or low round draft pick as a return, as long as they take the contract

I agree, but my gut says if that offer was out there, it would have already happened. I’m thinking teams either wanted the blues to retain salary, or were offering salary back.

Edit: though maybe that changes now that the expansion draft is over.

there was this tweet from a few pages ago..of course if it were true, you'd think he'd be gone by now if 4 teams were willing to take on the contract (unless they weren't the teams Tarasenko had on his list....he may change/add if he gets desperate)

also, same guy that broke the Dunn pick, so?

In other news, as I glance at landeskog’s stats, I start to really wonder if he is worth tank money. Seems like schenner is a better comp? I’d love to see a big year offer to landy at around schenn money, especially if the issue with the avs is they only went 5 years (and under 7m)

7/46 or 8/52? The blues are already setup to rebuild in about 5 years when some big contracts get old, so go big now.

My gut says those 4 teams were interested in the full salary, but wanted to send salary back. (Meaning an overpaid player comes back, negating the salary relief) or yeah, maybe not teams from Tank’s list.

Or maybe DA waited to use tank as a gamble/bait to protect Dunn.

Edit: I mean, we’re just guessing based on half rumors. It’s going to be a very interesting week!

Yep, it will be!

And unlike Mo, I have full faith in Army after what’s been able to pull off

Petro (and I guess can count Jaybo) last year, gunner, Dunn and tarasenko this year (and possibly guys like Schwartz and Bozak and more)

Gonna look a lot different! But I think Army will surprise us ala schenn/o’reilly trades.

(And I’m with you on landeskog. He ain’t worth what’s being reported, so def will be overpaid IMO)

and on another note, I hope we go after Saad and let Schwartz walk.

similar-ish stats, and both LW, but saad is a year younger and less injury risk

I’d be happy with saad or Schwartz (at the right price)

Edit: why not both?

Lol sign me up!

With tank gone (soon?), gunner retiring, not paying Dunn at whatever RFA he’ll get, (and prob more I’m forgetting) we should have some nice cap space to work with
