Looking forward to the Tic Tac Toe movie myself.

And I find the Spiderman "reboot" depressing. You'd think they'd run out of comic books to make more goddamn comic book movies about, but all they have to do is wait a few years after making the last movie from the comic book and make a new comic book movie about the same comic book with a different cast. Ugh.

Spiderman is still one of the most recognizable comic book brands out there so there's virtually no chance that Sony is going to shelf the series long enough for the distributing rights to go to another studio. They clearly wanted to go with a different cast and a reboot is probably better than continuing the series with different actors and acting like nothing changed.

I'm okay with rebooting superhero movies as long as they vary the villians used. I'd be much more annoyed if they re-used the same villians over and over. Which is why despite the fact that Nolan has done an awesome job with his Batman series, I kind of wish he would have chosen villians that hadn't been used before - or at least hadn't been used for a really long time.

I think the decision to reboot was influenced by the recent popularity of teen-romance-sci-fi such as Twilight (I threw up a little in my mouth). They wanted to strike while the iron is hot, and the hottest teen super hero is without a doubt Spiderman. You could have saved the previous timeline by doing a "future" Spiderman, grown and married with a teenage daughter. Would've been good, but would've been adult not teen oriented.

i understand not wanting to go back to the spidey well from some fans. but like others have said he is a bankable character. plus, i think if they kept going on with spidey 4, 5,6 etc they would just get worse and worse and worse...i dont mind the idea of a director/production team having a crack at it and, if successful, 3 movies seem like a good amount of time to tell a story. so raimi did his interpretation and now we'll have someone else try it. just like theres the burton batmans, the schumacher batmans (yuck) and the nolan ones, heck even the adam west batmans heh.

that said i am neither excited or dreading the new spiderman. i will probably see it though.

It could be worse; They could be giving the world a completely unnecessary gritty version of Snow White.

I was all set to not want to see it, but it doesn't look half bad. But I am not sure about the Cops after Spidy story, sounds too much like Batman.
