Jets win in OT. Any combination of 4 points gained by them or not gained by the Blues in both teams last 3 games ensures they win the division.
If we win out, they have to get 3 points or less in 3 games to lose the division. Unlikely.
We do own the tiebreaker against Nashville for the moment (one more ROW), and getting home ice against them would be a big deal.

Unlikely, huh? What if I would have told you on New Year’s eve that the Blues would end the season within a couple points of winning the division?JCShutout wrote:Unlikely.
OK, yeah it is unlikely. Still have to face one or both of these teams in the playoffs anyway. I’ll take our chances with how the Blues have played.

Me too. The Blues have a great record overall against the good teams in the NHL this season, it is the bad teams that are still a stumbling block at times even during this great stretch to close out the season.Popeye_Card wrote:I’ll take our chances with how the Blues have played.
I've been saying it since the beginning of the season, they normally start out as one of the best teams in the NHL and then flame out in the second half so let's see what kind of a playoff run they can make when they start out as one of the worst teams in the league and finish one of the best. I didn't honestly believe that they would make the playoffs on January 1, 2019 but I still kept saying it hoping that they would turn it around and so far they've rewarded me.

Oh, I'm not saying it isn't possible. I'm just saying its unlikely. Its reasonable to expect the Jets to gain 4 points in their last 3 games, and its reasonable to think the Blues might go 2-1 instead of 3-0. If we win the division, then I'll be ecstatic.
Either way, I'm loving the turnaround. I know some folks (at LGB) were mad that the Blues lost to NYR (might be the difference for winning the division), but even the best teams lose sometimes to bad teams, and the Blues have won 7 of their last 10. It doesn't even feel like their best hockey right now, and they are managing to win 70% of their games. That's really exciting.
I'll definetely take the Blues' chances. I'd like an extra home ice game against the Preds since Nashville is really good at home, and the Blues' owners aren't the Dewitts, so any extra playoff income is a good thing, but I'm happy with the Blues chances as long as they stay healthy heading into the 2nd season.

jets lose again, preds win...so tie for first
I'm kinda hoping preds win out and jets lose another game; NSH finishes first and puts us in a matchup with the jets...they've been scuffling pretty much the entire 2nd half

Wow, I didn't realize the Jets played last night and they were spanked.
They still own the tie-breaker so they control their own destiny, and the Blues would likely still need to win out (ROW, not shootouts) but the division is way more likely today than it was yesterday.

Sigh, Oh Blues. SOL to Chi. Now extremely unlikely to get home ice again.

I'm amazed while remembering how these Blues were dead last in the NHL in January, then ending up in 1st place(yeah, I know, for the time being)
