I heard him say that, but I'll believe it when I see it.

There's really no reason to think that they won't spend what they've been spending.

Asked if he'd "like to be a mystery team in future negotiations," Mozeliak: "Not really."

mitigated a lot of risk by AP saying no.

Found that interesting as well...he said he can't be in those talks of Musial, Ripken, Gwynn...he really looked like that bothered him as well when he said that.
He seemed perturbed that they didn't include Musial in their list.

But they shouldn't spend just to spend. Their hands are pretty tied, though. Middle infield/CF is the obvious places to upgrade. And really, unless you're getting a star CF, then a 1-year stopgap might help with Craig being hurt. I'd guess they envision Adams as the 2013 possible 1B.

Lohse and Westbrook are likely going nowhere, so the rotation won't see a bump. We can all hope they'll sign a SP, but unless one of them are traded, it won't happen.

The pen is pretty well set other than a couple of arms. There's no reason to spend much money there.

Musial was the last one in the list...they said Ripken Gwynn, short pause and musial
