FTFY

This will stop when insurance companies refuse to keep paying $30 for a band-aid. My company's insurance provider is already taking a stance. I suspect others will follow suit.
We had a Blue Cross rep at our latest annual benefits meeting and they were pounding the table on this. Really encouraging everyone to not be shy about questioning expenses.

That's awesome, but Blue Cross needs to be questioning the expenses, since they're the ones paying the bulk of the expenses. They not only need to question the expenses, but they need to stop paying anything beyond a fair price (my insurance company has determined that cost plus 12% is a fair price, and won't pay a dime more).
I agree with that too.

Mississippi has the same life expectancy as Syria.

Reuters - Obamacare enrollment to hit 7 million target despite setback
President Barack Obama's national healthcare program was on track to reach its goal of covering 7 million Americans, administration officials said on Tuesday, a victory for the White House after a months-long, glitch-filled rollout.

Obama is scheduled to make a statement about the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, at 4:15 p.m. EDT in the White House.

Obama's remarks could be the start of a victory lap for his administration, which suffered from the botched unveiling of the program's primary website, HealthCare.gov, and wavering support from Americans years after the healthcare law passed over Republican objections.

Officials did not provide exact updated figures, but the uptick in enrollment was in line with what experts predicted and it represented what the White House has called a comeback story that could boost Democrats in the November congressional elections.

I didn't need to apply as I already have Medicare and Medicaid (because I am on SSI). But I hope that the millions of people who will now have insurance get the benefits that I already have. All four of my psychiatric ward hospitalizations in the past six months ($13,000+) were completely paid for.
