Manning isn't perfect, either. He's got passion, just like Sherman. Here's a video of Peyton Manning getting riled up, similar to Sherman. The difference is that he dealt with his issues man-to-man, rather than showboating for the cameras. To me, this is REAL passion, rather than contrived hype.

You're certainly entitled to be entertained by it. It get it.

I think it was selfish. It put the focus on him, rather than his team accomplishment. That's basically what his coach told him, as well. He agreed. It was funny in a WWF kind of way, which was his intention. Like I said, that's fine.......... as long as you're going to own it. Just don't say later that you didn't mean to do it, when you clearly did.

Personally, I don't have a problem with him confronting Crabtree, if he felt the need. Larry Bird and Michael Jordan used to trash-talk, too. The difference is that they didn't act like caged animains in front of a camera............ they normally did their business on the court.

If everyone acted like Peyton, it would be boring...this is entertainment...and Sherman was entertaining

I wish he had an easy way to emulate/make fun of him, like Manziel's money making hand gesture or Tebow's pose, or newton's superman, etc.

Dude needs a lesson in branding if he's going to brand himself.

His interview would have been a lot more awesome had he given a soundbyte or quip or quote he could market....instead of a barely coherent screaming rambling mess of answers.

At the same time, it's hard to begrudge a guy for being infinitely amped after what had just transpired...

Sure. Everyone is talking about it. That's what makes it selfish, in my opinion. Hardly anyone is talking about his team's win.

The WWE is insanely popular, too. If that's what you're after, then Sherman is definitely your guy. No doubt about it.

Manning NEVER brings attention to himself (unless you're talking about the comical SNL skits or the Papa John's commercials, which take nothing away from hsi team). Have you ever watched one of his post-game interviews? "My line did a tremendous job blocking for us, and our defense did a great job of getting the ball back for us. My receivers made some terrific catches".

Everyone is talking about Manning because he's arguably having the best year that an NFL quarterback has had ............. ever, not because he got in front of a camera and told the world that he's the best, like Sherman did.

He's still in front of the camera...the front face of the team...whenever someone talks about the Broncos, it's about Manning...

Just because someone talks the talk and can back it up, doesn't make him selfish...Sherman did his job when it was on the line, props to him...and he can brag if he wants, no one else did it but him. It's harmless IMHO.

we've got 2 weeks for people to talk about the seahawks. they will get plenty of coverage, as will sherman. besides, how much team coverage do you need if you are a not a fan of either team.

ive never understood the appeal of on the field interviews either. coaches/players don't want to say much before hand and are too excited afterwards to make sense. they are awkward in so many regards, even calm interviews. i even "dread" cardinal player interviews like that. they have nothing to truly offer. i get no wisdom/insight from any of those interviews.

the peyton clip doesn't seem entirely applicable since it was a teammate and he wasn't thrown to a reporter 10 secs after he was riled up.

perhaps it wasn't gracious, but it was an interview right after the game after sherman made a play that put his team into the super bowl (couldn't have been more than a minute by the time the game was actually over to when he made the play). we also dont know what crabtree/49ers was saying either. usually have to have a reason to get that riled up.

lets not pretend that the NFL isn't a bunch of big guys crashing into each other...nor that journalists dont create a "storyline"/narrative for each game...now that i think about it, they are pretty similar except for one difference (knowing the winner).

I would feel a little differently if him (and the team) weren't CONSTANTLY claiming that the other player(team) talks too much and started everything. They almost get in a pregame rumble every single week. There are taunting penalties that they always claim is in retalliation. Almost every week at least one person on that team is involved in something. At some point you have to realize that there is one common denominator in it all and that is the Seattle Seahawks.

I know there is trash talk from every team and there are certainly times where Seattle might not have started it but in the end, I can't stand Sherman or the Seahawks and their attitude. People can think the attitude and 'swagger' is great right now but once they aren't winning like they are now things will change and it will be ugly even though the attitude and 'swagger' won't be the real reason for the downfall. I can guarantee you that.
