A little sad news yesterday. Clint Mathis has officially retired following the Galaxy's upcoming friendly with Real Madrid.

The coolest, baddest US player ever for a run of about 3 years from 01-03. Burned bright, but injuries and his partying took it's toll.

If he had half of Clint Dempsey's fire and dedication, he could have had Clint's career, but unfortunately he didn't. Still, my favorite player when I started to really get into soccer after the '02 Cup.

BPL is back. There is added excitement at the beginning of the season because there are new teams. It would be like the Pirates or Royals finally being in the Major League again. I'm watching Blackpool (?) roll in their first ever Premier league game.

Aston Villa with a solid win today.

My BPL fantasy team didn't do so well today though. One of my buddies' sister is at the top of the league because she had Drogba as her captain (double the points) and he had a hat trick today.
