Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer was murdered in Jamaica, according to police sources.

Reports from pathologists in Florida confirmed foul play, according to officials.

Sources told C4 News that an official murder investigation will be announced shortly.

Mr Woolmer was discovered with a fractured bone in his neck, it has been claimed.

The fingerprints of the entire Pakistan cricket team have been taken as part of the investigation.

Scotland Yard said it was ready to help Jamaican police investigate the death of the former England cricketer.


Ahead of the expected results of further pathologists' tests, sources said he apparently had a fracture in a bone in his neck, which could be "consistent" with being strangled.

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CNN) -- A pathology report indicated that Pakistani cricket coach Bob Woolmer died of "manual strangulation," according to a statement from Jamaican police commissioner Lucius Thomas.

"In these circumstances, the matter of Mr. Woolmer's death is now being treated by the Jamaican police as a case of murder," the statement said Thursday night.

I know nothing about the sport I'm just talking about the involved parties. Who would want to partake in a sport that you could wind up dead because of it?

Inspired by a genius who raised his game when the occasion demanded, Sri Lanka overpowered India in their final league match at Port-of-Spain and stormed into the Super Eights. Coming close on the heels of Bob Woolmer's tragic demise, India's exit will no doubt be a setback for the World Cup. Carrying the tags of 'commercial favourites', they will be the first to admit that they didn't deserve to go through, having been trumped by both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It was no doubt a spineless batting effort today but there is little one can do when confronted by a magician like Murali.
