Huh. Not too surprising I guess, admittedly I don't do a ton of shopping when I'm up there. Either way, it's stupid. Defining yourself by schadenfreude is weak.thrill wrote:Oh I have. The Brewers because I lived there and have some Wisco roots.
The Rockies because I live there now and it's sad to see how the franchise has gone downhill since the days of the Blake Street Bombers.
The Orioles because they used to be the Browns (and I hate to see what has happened to a great franchise during these Angelos years).
Now, as far as the Cubs go, I'll say what I've said before. If the rivalry is ever going to approach the level of the Yanks-Sox both teams have to be successful. A few knockdown, dragout NLCS battles should do the trick. And yes, I realize we may not win them all. But it'd be a lot of fun, IMHO. Let's start in 2008 with the Cardinals winning the pennant in a hard fought NLCS to make it an even 100 years, and then we'll see what happens from there.

That's the fun part about being a cards fan though. Having ten WS and watching the Cubs loose over and over.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Huh. It's more noticeable when it is the other team. I agree that the whole rival team = a lesser person is dumb. That doesn't mean I don't hate the Cubs. I do hate the Cubs. I just don't hold fandom against anyone. For example, my two best friends are a Cubs fan and an Astros fan. That isn't anything to hold against them.Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Huh. What I hold against fans is dumbness.

I guess if you want to hang your hat on a bunch of games that were won before you were born, I can't stop you. Prior to last year the championship count was nil-nil for our lifetime, no?ToughGuy_BlueShirt wrote:That's the fun part about being a cards fan though. I think there's an area between cheering for the rival team and berating a fellow fan for not considering the rival the root of all evil while wearing a "Cursed" or "Take it in the Pujols" shirt.haltz wrote:Oh, that's a bit of hyperbole, wouldn't you say? Who actually cheers for the rival team?Transmogrified Tiger wrote:Defining yourself by schadenfreude is weak.
Indeed, I'm not saying hold hands and sing a song with a rival(although I'll say rival college dynamics are much different than pro baseball teams), but I won't be caught dead in a "KU sucks" shirt and will laugh at those in "Muck Fizzou" shirts.stretch wrote:Don't you love when the beakers lose, TT?
