How did Lohse shut down the Cubs today?

The cold weather and Doug Eddings. When you have Kyle Lohse and Ted Lilly combining for 20-some strikeouts where at least half of them are called 3rd strikes, there's gotta be a common denominator causing it. Pretty crappy game to watch too(regardless of who wins), it's not a real pitcher's duel since the hitters on both sides get bent over by mother nature and the dude who can be conned into turning a strikeout into a wild pitch with a bit of theatricality.

I dunno, these two teams combined for 19 strikeouts on Friday. They both happen to be high-K teams, and neither is hitting particularly well right now. Not too surprising to me what happened.

Exactly. That was only a minor rumble--after the game, no f bombs, no objects thrown in disgust. But the pressure is building with each Cub miscue. There's gonna be a big one sometime in May, I think.

After consulting with the Piniella Volcanic Forecast Center, a major eruption could be brought on if the Cards take the brooms to the Cubbies next weekend.

Considering Zambrano and Hill will both miss the first STL series (pitching the two ATL games beforehand), I'm not too optimistic (outside of Lilly's start). Hopefully, the weather will warmup and so will the Cubs bats!

Then again, the Cubbies may revert to "Dustyball" and continue to own the Cards @ home. Friday cannot get here fast enough!
