my nephew's HS football team (a chicago powerhouse) got in on the act with pink socks.Socnorb11 wrote:Leroy wrote:I think it is stupid in the first place in all sports 82. Let's have the refs throw pink flags too.
Not that I'm cold, I hate cancer and just lost a relative to it, but why not make an awareness of all cancers?
When I see the pink, I actually think of "all cancers", actually.
But yeah, it's overkill. I'm all for the awareness. But when it becomes a permanent think (which it seems to be), then it kinda loses the effect.

ESPN is saying my Raiders are close to a trade for Carson Palmer.

Two first round picks? That's a lot of talent for Carson Palmer.Leroy wrote:ESPN is saying my Raiders are close to a trade for Carson Palmer.

Not really alot of talent, considering the Raiders past #1 picks.TheoSqua wrote:Two first round picks? That's a lot of talent for Carson Palmer.Leroy wrote:ESPN is saying my Raiders are close to a trade for Carson Palmer.

Re: 2011 NFL season
Their draft picks the last couple years have been pretty good, but Lewis' point stands. This is the first year in what, a decade in which the Raiders seem solid. They were ok last year, but the division stunk.
If I was smarter about football I'd figure out what percentage of first or second round picks wash out. I'd say fairly high. And if this makes the Raiders better for awhile, what the heck. Not that I'm sold on Palmer, never have been.

I've heard from more than a few medical professionals he's done.ghostrunner wrote:I guess the Colts are angling for Andrew Luck.
Story goes the problem is spinal inflammation and is a hereditary, degenerative problem. It's the same thing that kept the oldest brother from playing football and is a problem Eli Manning will eventually face as well. There's no real way to stop it, but they tried to relieve some pressure on the surgery this summer. The latest one, the vertebrae fusing, is supposed to relieve some of the symptoms temporarily but leaves him very likely to injury his back and makes moving his head more difficult.
In other words - he's done. He might have a year left. But he's done.
I've heard a few calling for Caldwell's head on this and I can't say much to defend Caldwell other than no one would have this team looking good without Peyton and all the injuries on both sides of the ball. Sure Andrew Luck would be nice, but I'd like to see them bring a more balanced philosophy to Indy.

That's too bad with Peyton.
Being that I don't have interwebs yet at the office I've been listening to a Minnesota sports talk channel. Sounds like they may have a special legislative session to get a stadium deal or the team may move. Plus, Vikings fans heads seem like they are about to explode.

Moving the Vikings seems like a horrible idea. Getting the public to continue to finance these boondoggles is even worse.Leroy wrote:That's too bad with Peyton.
