Yep. And with him in the AL, it will be a little easier to be to cheer for him and happy for him when he reaches milestones.JL21 wrote:There you go. Perfectly stated.thrill wrote:Good move by our team. Happy trails, big guy. Enjoy LA. Hope to beat you in a World Series real soon.
Wonder what MLB will decide on what hat he should wear in the HOF. I would guess Cards, but Angels don't have as many players representing their team.

Well put. That's how I feel.vinsanity wrote:I can't blame him for taking the cash. I can't blame him for asking for it and filing for free agency. I don't blame STL for not matching. But I still can't help but feel less...charmed by him.
I had this kind of romantic notion of having one of the greatest careers ever for one team in a time that no one stays with one team. I suppose it was unrealistic, but it cheapens Pujols to me a little.
I hope that [expletive] is 36 years old.

It's not quite as sad when you start to view him as less of an icon and more as a mercenary.

In the end, it’s sad to see him go and I am upset about it, but that kind of money is insane for a guy in his 30’s. they will be paying him $25 million when he’s 42. I will certainly miss seeing him get 500 homers and 3000 hits in a Cardinals uni, but life goes on.
He didn’t prove himself to be the person I thought he was. He said he wanted to retire as a cardinal. He lied.
Honestly, I hope the Cardinals give #5 to another player in a couple of years (wouldn’t want anyone to have to shoulder tha this year though). It’ll be spineless if they take it out of service for him now.

The thought of him wearing an Angels uniform into the HoF is the first time his leaving has made me feel sick.Gashouse wrote:Yep. I guess this means he will go into the HOF as angel? To much time will have passes for him to be a card and by then not sure the emotional ties will be there for it to mean much to stl

We still have two WS championships. Too bad he wont have a statue outside the stadium but other than that I really dont care. I am with others here that I would be way more pissed if he had signed the same contract with the Cards.

I am positive that every person that has their number retired lied at some point. I wouldnt give #5 to anyone. In 15 years or so he will have his number retired. You can't take away the fact that even if nearly half his career will be played somewhere else that he was one of the top 5 Cardinals of all time.OmahaCard79 wrote:In the end, it’s sad to see him go and I am upset about it, but that kind of money is insane for a guy in his 30’s. they will be paying him $25 million when he’s 42.
