I guess I just don't understand why so many fans are so psyched to have a quarterback that gives their team a definite ceiling. It's one thing to like the guy, he's pretty likable. It's another thing to be over the moon about a player who will single-handedly prevent your team from being a serious Super Bowl contender. It really makes Broncos fans look like some of the dumbest fans of any team anywhere.

It's the guy's thigh. Apparently he lost a Tim Te-bet.

Kyle Orton?

The Broncos are winning with Tim Tebow, so we support him. If that makes us dumb fans, I'm OK with that.

Holy circular logic.

“He was a good prospect.”

“What? No he wasn’t. Scouts – the people whose job it is to know this stuff – were all but unanimous in thinking this.” (Not to mention the noise from pretty much every circle when Denver went out of their way to draft him in the first round – people were stunned at the reach.)

“But he’s winning games. Therefore, you never know!”

Uh, no, we know that he wasn’t a good prospect. Winning a few games during a hot streak with an unsustainably low interception rate against mostly soft teams with great luck in close games doesn’t change the fact that by just about any QB measurable other than pure athleticism, the guy was a crappy pro QB prospect.

And that’s even if you, for some bizarre reason, decide to allow, for the sake of argument, that Tebow has actually played well, which he hasn’t – he’s been mediocre at best, and a brutal passer, which is still the single most important criterion of judging a quarterback’s play – now more than ever in an era where football is more pass-heavy than it ever has been.

Which is probably why he's been having success...defenses are set up for the pass-heavy play of today's football. But defenses will adjust...they adjusted to the Wildcat, they'll adjust to Tebow.

He was a good football prospect. Whether he was a good quarterback prospect is debatable. By the same token, Sam Bradford was a great quarterback prospect, and he's been bad too. So what's the point?

He's played well, most of the time. He just has passed exceptionally well. As pointed out earlier, he's opened up lanes that wouldn't be opened up if Kyle Orton was the quarterback.

We've been hearing this for 9 weeks. Tebow has been just as successful the last 3 weeks as he was the first 3 weeks.

Is this a criticism of Tewbow? I can't tell.

I kid, I kid

Like I said in the other thread, I don't think he's the answer long-term, but he's fun to watch.
