We're back from the hospital. Dad passed around 5:50 this morning, about as peacefully as was possible and after a 6 year fight with multiple myeloma, his pain has finally ended.

I wouldn't even be a Cardinal fan today if it weren't for him constantly having either Jack Buck on the 1120 KMOX in the car, listening to the radio at home during dinner, or watching the game on TV. Inevitably at some point during dinner he'd say: "Well, the Cardinals sure BLEW it today!" shaking his head angrily, or saying how happy he was they had won. I know I said this already, and while I know it's just a game, I'm so, so happy that 2006 and 2011 went the way they did so that he could see not just one but two more titles come to his beloved team before he went.

RIP, Dad. "That's a Winner", indeed.

Dang man, so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself during this tough time. And, thank goodness he wasn't a cubs fan.

My deepest sympathy, Cronos. I'm glad his family was with him as he passed.

Though It may seem trivial to talk about baseball at a time like this, we have such a generational connection that it somehow seems appropriate. I am often flooded by memories of my dad and the Cards. He passed in 2010, so he was here for 2006 and I'll never forget our talks during that postseason. For 2011, this Dan O'Neill article in the PD gave me a great deal of comfort and I hope it does the same for you, my friend. Take care of yourself.

Baseball, St. Louis go hand in hand

Please accept my condolences, too, Cronos. It's good that you're there with you're family, where you can provide one another support. But we're thinking about you here, too, and wish you and yours better days ahead.
