Mcilroy just seems like an oof. His gait makes me want to punch him. Breaking up with a fiance after the wedding has been planned via text seems weak. But, yeah, he's good.

The break-up has been good for his game.

"I think what happened has been for the better in terms of my golf," he said after two rounds of the season's last major. "I've put a bit more time into it, and it has refocused me. I mean, what else do I have to do now?

It was good, but it still didn't match the drama of the same tournament at the same course in 2000. That was the most exciting golf tournament I have ever seen.

I don't know what Tiger is thinking. Shut it down for this year, fire that joke of a swing coach (Sean Foley), swallow your pride and call Butch or Hank, and try making a run in 2015.

Tiger Woods said on his website Monday that he has parted ways with Sean Foley, his swing coach for the past four years.

"I'd like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship," Woods said on tigerwoods.com. "Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him. With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando [in December], this is the right time to end our professional relationship."

Woods, who is sidelined with back injury, said he doesn't have a timetable for hiring a new coach. Woods began working with Foley at the 2010 PGA Championship.

Foley was the third coach Woods hired as a professional. He left Butch Harmon in 2003 and began working with Hank Haney a year later. He parted with Haney in the spring of 2010 when Woods returned from the scandal in his personal life.

About time. I was hoping for a Butch reunion but just read this from golf.com:

Scratch any thoughts of a Tiger Woods/Butch Harmon reunion - it's not going to happen.

That's according to Butch himself, who told the Golf Channel's Rex Hoggard that not only would he not accept an offer, Tiger would never ask him. And, oh yeah, Tiger doesn't need a coach anyway:

“No I would not and he’s not going to call and ask,” Harmon said when asked if he would entertain a coaching offer. “I don’t think he needs a swing coach. If I were advising Tiger I’d tell him, ‘You’re the greatest player that ever lived, just go to the range and hit shots.’”

Even before Woods amicably split with coach Sean Foley yesterday, there was a sentiment among some golf fans that he needed to go back to Butch to recreate the magic the two shared during the early part of Woods' career. Irish bookmaker Paddy Power will be happy to lay you 5/1 odds that it's still going to happen. You can also take Johnny Miller at 66/1 if you fancy longshots or Hank Haney at 16/1.

Haney was Tiger's coach from 2004 through 2010, which included an astounding 18 victories in 34 tournaments from 2006 to 2008. Woods won four majors in that time and finished second six times. He won six majors overall while working with Haney, including his last major, the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.

Under Harmon, Woods won eight majors and 31 PGA Tour titles from 1997 through 2004. With Foley from 2010 through 2014, he won 8 Tour events and no majors.

Not a bad couple weeks for Billy Horschel. The guy does have a nice swing. What, about $12.5 million last two weeks? Not too shabby. Too bad Watson didn't pick him for Ryder Cup, he is on fire right now. We're going to get smoked.
