I heard where Oh said he just throws whatever Yadi tells him to, when asked about his approach to hitters. Awesome to see how much command he has and how well he can execute Yadi's gameplan.
Would love to see him used in higher leverage situations. Oh's average leverage index when entering the game is 0.82, only ahead of Matt Bowman. And it has been trending downward with each appearance. If Matheny is going to continue to chase Trevor's save stat, how about we just save Oh for those other moments in the game when we need a closer but Matheny won't use one.
I think the plan was to save Oh for the 8th inning on Saturday, to protect the lead or in a tie game, but Matheny's 6th inning meltdown caused Oh to appear in a lower leverage situation than expected.
Bottom line......I am very confident Matheny will use Oh in high leverage situations throughout the rest of the season.
As long as they stay healthy (that is a big if...) I feel quite confident in the Rosie-Siegrist-Oh trio. Might not be as good as the Betances-Miller-Chapman trio, but potentially elite nonetheless.
