Nah, he gets paid to play basketball, win games, score points, play D, and entertain slugs like me and you both. He does not get paid to be judged, that's just a thing we do because we're American humans who have to judge and grade and rank everything and give every athlete GOAT or goat status.Socnorb11 wrote:Personally, I don't care if he cares. Re: 2019 NBA Playoffs Poll
Fans are stakeholders. There is value and identity and pride invested (heavily) in the league for me and others with interest in what's on the front of the jersey. This makes it hard to just watch and let it be and lose and call it entertainment. There are going to be judgements about what's happening on the court and the things that affect it. Like Kevin Durant taking that little sliver of hope you had to squint real hard to see and punting it into the sun. His choice. But as a stakeholder, I get to judge it.33anda3rd wrote:Nah, he gets paid to play basketball, win games, score points, play D, and entertain slugs like me and you both. Judging his competitiveness isn't beyond the pale. Competition is his what his industry is built on. Competition is his business... theoretically.

Which leads me to my main point. Those Love's patches on the Thunder's jerseys are literally disrupting my viewing experience. I dislike the Blazers (green?!?). But OKC's is abominable.

Hey Siri how do I blame Kevin Durant for my team not winning rings when my team isn't good enough to avoid a sweep at the hand of the New Orleans Pelicans?BottenFieldofDreams wrote:Like Kevin Durant taking that little sliver of hope you had to squint real hard to see and punting it into the sun. Oh did we lose to the Pelicans? I was too caught up in appreciating the beauty and evolution of basketball to pay any attention to things as trivial as the score or winning and losing.33anda3rd wrote:Hey Siri how do I blame Kevin Durant for my team not winning rings when my team isn't good enough to avoid a sweep at the hand of the New Orleans Pelicans?BottenFieldofDreams wrote:Like Kevin Durant taking that little sliver of hope you had to squint real hard to see and punting it into the sun. Hey Kohler mirror AI, remind 33 to try moving one inch toward another human's perspective after his long day of not judging people like an ugly American.
As a perfectly objective fan of the names on the backs of jerseys, is it super gratifying to come after a man's relationship with his city/team?
KD and all his fake Twitter handles don't give 1/1000000th a crap what I think. Why do you?

Well, little good-hearted joking about your mediocre team's inability in the recent past to get out of the first round, doesn't go over well even though it's frankly a lot nicer than online character assassination. Ok then.BottenFieldofDreams wrote:]As a perfectly objective fan of the names on the backs of jerseys, is it super gratifying to come after a man's relationship with his city/team?

Year before that one way the Blazers coulda not had their sliver of hope stomped out by the Warriors is if they'd won three more regular season games. Then they could have been swept instead by the Spurs. Or they could have won a few less, gone into the lottery instead of getting washed in the first round, received the Denver pick in the lotto and drafted Donovan Mitchell.

It's more about the principle. If this is how the league's very best players are going to behave, I'm entirely and totally expletived, and forced to dream of a world where I could just like some of these players and watch them jump high and stuff without investing anything in it.
If the league is just an exhibition, I can't ever get what I've poured a lot of spirit and energy into. And had my heart ripped out a number of times for. Can you relate to that in any way?
I overreacted above.

Re: 2019 NBA Playoffs Poll
The last time I thought there was maybe a puncher's chance was the year Wes popped his Achilles. That was the first year GS won and they weren't demonstrated to be nearly invincible, outside of Green's testicle fetish, yet. We started the year 21-4 or something. But Wes popped his achilles.
Then the Warriors won 72 games and added the best scorer of his generation. And so all that's left to matter is small victories like Anfernee Simons scoring 38 on the last day of the season. Fun, but the burning pit in my soul remains.

I held it in my hands once. Then we blew a 15 point 4th quarter lead to the Lakers.
It was in my hands.
Maybe I'll never get close again.
