The pitfalls of trusting metrics without additional context.
A forward should at the very least be on a team's top PK unit to even be eligible for the Selke. And if you want to consider faceoff winning percentage at all as part of the defensive prowess of a player, hopefully you want someone over Kyrou's 19%.
100%
Also, he just seemed to be on the ice for some of the most devastating goals in the last month or two. I distinctly remember a couple different GWGs from the other team where Kyrou was lollygagging and they buried their chance.
He may have improved from seasons past, but he's still not an elite defender. That just doesn't pass the sniff test. Maybe Holloway wasn't eligible or something, but I would think he (or maybe Thomas) would be our best candidates for Selke.

Even Buchnevich would have been a better choice. Or Suter. Or just about any of the other forwards, except maybe Snuggy. Was this a Blackhawks writer who voted for Kyrou to troll Blues fans?

Lol, Kyrou improved defensively but should be nowhere NEAR selke votes. What is this, the Cardinals late aughts rotation behind Carp and Waino: lol wtf and idk?

Larkin gave DET his 3 teams he’d approve a trade to…
Min, Fla,………and Vegas

None of those teams have much to trade though, that would be of great interest to Detroit.
The speculated package from Florida is the 9th overall pick in this year's draft, Eetu Luostarinin (pedestrian C/LW), and Sandis Vilmanis (marginal prospect LW/RW).
Minn's best chip is Jesper Wallstedt, but that doesn't net the Wings a high draft pick in this year's draft (Minnesota doesn't pick until #89 overall) and I don't think goalie is a priority for them after signing Gibson last year. I just don't see a match there, though MIN could certainly use a top C.
Vegas would have to move some significant contracts to make space, and probably moving one of their C's. I don't think they move Karlsson. Hertl has a longer term, friendly contract ($6.75MM per year through '29/'30). Barbashev makes $5MM for two more seasons, but I don't think he's enough to be the centerpiece of a deal that doesn't also come with a top 10 pick. Vegas doesn't pick until #95 overall.
It is going to be tough to make a deal with any of these three without being really creative, and likely having to pull in a third team. I guess I wouldn't mind a deal where we end up with Barbashev as a third team in a salary dump, but I'm not going to give up the #11 or #15 pick for him.

yeah I tend to agree; I wonder if the headache is enough to unload him for something rather than what disruptions he may cause. when tarasenko requested a trade, army wasn't going to get fleeced as he was coming off an injury, and held onto him till a better deal arrived. I never heard of tarasenko ever being a problem though, so hopefully Larkin is the same?
I have a feeling if a deal gets made, it will of course be to Vegas. it's not a clean fit, as there isn't much to love in terms of getting a C back, but Connelly is a winger that every scout seems to love, and they also have ihs-wozniak another winger that seems to be thought highly of.
the cap for Vegas is an issue, but getting rid of hill and petro on the LTIR helps...plus they aways find a way to get a guy they want

Whoa! Fla acquires Brady Tkachuk for the 9th and 25th overall pick in the upcoming draft, a 2027 2nd, and a 2029 conditional first. (Fla had previously traded Samoskevich For the 25th and a conditional 2027 2nd)
So basically they got Brady for the 9th overall, Samoskevic, and a 2029 1st.
All I know about Samoskevich Is he’s a rw, former late 1st pick (2021), and has two, 30 point seasons under his belt (15 and 12 goals). No clue on skill set, potential, ice time, role, etc.
Man, FLA is going for it!
I wonder if they would want Biner at 50% retained. I’d probably rather keep Binner, as I think he would be a good 2nd half of a goalie tandem as Hofer eases into starter-level workload. (Plus I want to see Binner get to 200 wins as a Blue. Just needs 14)
Are the dominoes starting to fall?
