And ZiPS is conservative in the estimates too. Even if he's 2 WAR he needs to be up here.

Something tells me that a guy who is even 1/3 of Brandon Lowe style 2B numbers needs to be up here. They have similar ratios and power and fielding ability.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol indicated Thursday that a promotion of infield prospect Nolan Gorman is not imminent.

Gorman already has 10 home runs at Triple-A Memphis, which is actually more than the Cards have as an entire team since April 10. While there is a potential fit for him at second base if Tommy Edman shifts to shortstop to replace the struggling Paul DeJong, it doesn't sound like the club is ready to make that move yet. “That’s the most important part of that move being made,” Marmol said when asked about the need for Gorman to play every day. “At the moment, I don’t see that being the case. As we said this spring, this kid’s going to come up and help at some point. If you’re asking for a window ... I have no idea. But when we feel it’s the right time, I guarantee you he will be here.”

This whole lineup is eaten alive by actual MLB pitching.

It’s 21% in AAA not 33%.

Brandon Lowe has a high K rate too. 28%. And had 4.9 fWAR last year. Three guys just got mega contracts with high K rates this off-season.

There seems to be a lot of Fake News with the K rates and ignoring of 2021. Don’t get it. There’s tons of bonafied stars in this league who rake with high K rates.

Liberatore continues to track through the minors without experiencing so much as a developmental hiccup, and in fact, he’s accumulated much more big game experience than all but a few pitchers his age. Last year, he struck out a batter per inning as a 21-year-old who spent the entire season at Triple-A Memphis, started the Futures Game for the National League, and pitched for Team USA in the Olympics.

Libby has done all of this amid a shift in his pitch usage. The slider that he learned on the fly as a high school senior has now become his most-used secondary pitch, and the sinking/tailing fastball shape that seemed like it might hamper his heater’s effectiveness has actually helped set up his changeup, which Liberatore has tremendous feel for locating, especially for a pitcher his age. The gorgeous, high-arcing curveball that made us all swoon while Liberatore was an amateur has actually become his least-used offering. It’s still useful as a way for him to get back into counts or as a show-me pitch the second or third time through the order, but it’s too slow and easy to identify out of his hand to be a dominant, finishing pitch.

Libby’s four-pitch package is seasoned with all sorts of crafty, Cueto-esque delivery variations that disrupt hitters’ timing and keep them off stuff that is more well-rounded than dominant. While he doesn’t have to be added to the Cardinals 40-man until after the season, Liberatore is ready right now and could be a superior option to several of the other upper-level Cardinals on the 40-man roster in the event that the team’s current rotation once again deals with injury.
