Re: 2008 Payroll Thread
Here's my update with all the recent moves. I don't think I missed anyone, but if I did please let me know. The last # is the one that counts for this season, according to the Cards addition. $107 million. That's pretty incredible.
(Ankiel is in red because we don't have arb figures on him yet. Wellemeyer should be in red, but I forgot and he's not important enough to change. I will assign actual salaries to the younger players whenever they are announced.)

Sorry if this has been asked - did the Cards have insurance for JuanE? It doesn't look like it.

Re: 2008 Payroll Thread
It really hurts seeing $19 M gone to the DL and the trade of Edmonds. The one thing that kills a medium or small franchise is lost money. Fat, did you account for the money coming back in the Rolen deal? I know it's a pittance (relatively speaking), but does it affect this count?

Re: 2008 Payroll Thread
I factored in the money coming back from Toronto and the $4 million owed in 2010 for Rolen's bonus or however it's phrased. "Other" is just former players and paid buyouts.

Re: 2008 Payroll Thread
They're possibly looking at a payroll of 107 million and not being able to compete, that's not good.
Of course if the payroll does hit that 107 million mark that means that guys are hitting their incentives which may mean that the team has a chance.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I imagine Wainwright will be more in the $750k range. Not that it has that great of impact on the bottom line.haltz wrote:I factored in the money coming back from Toronto and the $4 million owed in 2010 for Rolen's bonus or however it's phrased. Re: 2008 Payroll Thread
None of it's final. With just Wellemeyer up in the air (I went with the Cardinals' offer), I figured I'd fill in the minimum for the rest of the guys and see where we're at.
I'm assuming Wainwright won't end up at the bare minimum, but I'll fill that in when it happens.

For a $100,000,000 payroll, we aren't as good as I hoped.

This post, poster's outrage aside, made me remember a previous question that I had. How much "dead money" do we have this year?
Part of Mulder
Part or all of Carpenter
Part of Clement (maybe)
Spiezio
Kinney
Encarnacion
I know that all teams deal with this. But, wow, that's a ton of money. Other than the Yannkees, any other teams have that much in lost money?
