Well with all the taxes and higher cost of living, I wonder if it'll even end up as more money, which is sort of the irony of it.

However, $250M guaranteed would make it the largest guaranteed contract in history. Which is what they've always wanted.

I really, really, really did not see this coming. After the Marlins dropped out, I thought it was a lock that he was signing with us. I figured the "two other suitors" stuff was just the media manufacturing a story, or Lozano trying to pressure the Cards into upping their offer.

This sucks.

I made peace with him being gone a long time ago. I'm not going to say this didn't surprise me when I saw this this morning, but it's certainly not earth-shattering. Can't complain too much: brought me a lot of joy to see him help lead the team to playoff appearances, two rings, and a lot of success.

Yeah, I've been pointing out AP to my kids, explaining to them they're watching history. To them, Cards and AP were synonymous. I guess I get to explain to them the business side of pro sports. Joy.

I may go to one of the Angels spring training games here in AZ and hold up a sign with Pujols on it and a big "$".

how fast does pujols5 close? a week?
