More from AW's 4th...

Frazier
1. 89 mph FB in, fouled off
2. 88 mph FB in, ball
3. 72 mph curve
4. 89 mph FB for a GB out

Horton says the HR's were 84 mph cutters. Definitely the 2nd. I think the 1st was a change. Ball didn't move an inch.

Edit: saw replay, Phillips' HR was a cutter that didn't move much, it hung over inner half.

next guy
1. 88 mph FB lined to CF gap for an out.

His numbers actually aren't very good against the Cards, but it does seem like feast or famine against him a lot. Either they're knocking him around or he shuts them down entirely.

Some quick analysis on what I'm seeing from AW. The problem right now with the homeruns has been command. The Phillips HR was a poor pitch. It gets crushed regardless of anything else. Ludwick's was low and he golfed it just over the fence. I'm ok with that.

Otherwise, AW's fastball, which I would say is averaging 88-89, but no 87's is just not really fooling anyone. It's getting hit hard for LD's all over the field. His command of his breaking pitches in helping him mix outs in around the line drives.

He has the stuff still to get swings and misses. This isn't as bad as the score says, but it's also not as good as you want. One mistake pitch. One piece of good hitting. And then he's scattered hard hit balls. That's enough to consider this a positive outing already, imo.

What does history say about players coming back from TJ regaining velocity over the course of the first season back? I just hope he doesn't turn into a Liriano.

Strasburg is doing really well but he's 18 months removed from his surgery, I think. Should we just assume Waino is going to be subpar for the rest of the season?
