Here's the question. Will Wisconsin improve from Bielema? It seems like there is quite a bit of room to improve?

How can they possibly improve on 3 straight Rose Bowl appearances? They might not do that again for 100 years.

They're only going to the Rose Bowl because OSU was ineligible. They were 4-4 in the Big Whatever this year. They weren't horrible by any stretch but certainly not at a 100 year high.

Oh. Well, they also might not go to 2 straight Rose Bowl appearances for, say, 40 years then.

Just to clear things up, I should have said there is room to improve albeit maybe not quite a bit of room. It appears they are just a rung below (maybe just ever so slightly) Ohio State still and they are certainly not an elite program nationally, just a really good one.

OSU is 18-6 the past 3 years in the B1G, MSU and WI are both 17-7, PSU is 16-8, Nebraska is 12-4 in their two years, etc. Sure, Wisconsin has been good, no one is denying that, but they're not clearly the cream of the crop over that time. Couple that with losses in the rose bowls and yeah, it looksl ike there's room to improve. Right now they're a good, good program. A perennial top 20 team with appearances in the top 10. Start winning an extra game or two a year, and they'll become an elite program playing for National Championships every so often and be a perennial top 10 team.

Really, my whole point can be summed up as this: Good is the enemy of great. This is a chance to go from good to great, which is what it seems a lot of WI fans wanted. Now they just have to find the coach to do that. Which is easier said than done.

The first thing I heard today was that he grew up on a pig farm. That's quite a start in my book. And my last memory was watching him hang 70 on Nebraska. Just those two facts are enough.
