Blues traded Blais and the 2022 2nd to the Rangers for Pavel Buchnevich. That's outstanding value for the Blues

Really sad to see blais go. He is a fire plug when healthy, but this is a really good get. Our right side is set without tank. Bush, Perron, kyrou.

Need a lw and a dman.

I'm assuming tank is gone (even though army won't say it. he ain't giving up that leverage)

so if he goes and frees up 7.5, that'll leave a ton of cap space for a new contract for Buch....then can be in on FA guys like Saad, Schwartz, DMan like Suter? (would love him, and he could come cheap as he's still getting paid)

and still have money left over after re-signing our own RFAs

That’s what I like about the Blues. The Cardinals would call it an off-season right now.

17. St. Louis Blues: Zachary Bolduc, C

Team: Rimouski (QMJHL)
Ranking: 28 | Nationality: CAN
Age: 18 | Ht: 6-1 | Wt: 175 | Shot: L
Stats: 27 GP, 10 G, 19 A

How he fits: It's a little bit of a reach for the Blues here. Bolduc needs to develop an NHL frame and isn't among the first round's better skaters. But he has a solid wrist shot in his offensive repertoire and could certainly develop into a top-six forward. Others may have been surer things. But GM Doug Armstrong correctly snags a center here, which is an area of need in the Blues' rather shallow prospect pool. -- Wyshynski

The scuttlebutt in lgb is that this is a potentially awful draft, (probably why the rags wanted a 2022 2nd instead of this year’s pick for buch) so whether or not he is a “reach”, it’s a real crapshoot outside of a handful of picks, all of whom would be long gone by the time the blues drafted.

Makar gets $9m/yr for 6 years. That’s gotta mean one of saad/landy is gone.

I always thought saad was just a 1 year thing for them/try and win the cup.

Unless my math is off (and we can trade tarasenko), we can sign buch to a new contract, sign Schwartz, Saad, Suter, and call it an off-season.
