Of course the percentage of uninsured went down. They are forcing everyone to have it or you get a fine. It doesn't mean anyone is getting better coverage or good coverage. I have health insurance through the ACA it's [expletive] garbage. My options were garbage. If I wanted to keep my doctor, which I did, there were two plans, [expletive], and stupidly expensive. I shopped around some local places not on the exchange and they were worse. I know everyone wants to praise the ACA and I guess it's better than before but it's still [expletive] and that's what needs to be told. We've got to get the insurers out of health care. They are nothing but parasites and terrible people. We've got to have some sort of standard pricing as well. The whole situation is getting worse not better.

Honest question. If it's better than before, why is it garbage?

If you are insured but still can't afford the out of pocket expenses because the plans are ridiculous, is that any better than not being insured?

I think it's more effective for major medical issues.

How did people afford out of pocket expenses before the ACA? Much less major medical expenses........

it's garbage.

sure, if you have a pre-existing condition or fall under the cap and can qualify for subsidies/cheap insurance? it's prob great.

but for me? awful...i make too much to qualify for any break so have to pay full price. before ACA, being self employed, i could log into blue cross, cigna, aetna, whatever and get a quote, and buy. now? if you go to those sites, it directs you to the ACA site. you literally have no choice but to buy through the ACA site...seriously. you have to.

and the prices are freaking ridiculous. i worked in corporate america before i started my own business, so of course i was spoiled then. but being self employed wasn't "BAD" before ACA. now the prices are....wow.

and you give providers your insurance card and you get looks like, wow deadbeat, with eye rolls. i want to say [expletive]...i have to pay $1,700 per month for that [expletive]. seriously! $1,700...per...month. and no one takes the [expletive] [expletive] anymore!!! my gastroenterologist dropped out, and now the closest one is in dallas, almost an hour away and he doesn't have an appt for 2 months, and there's no way i can even [expletive] pronounce his name.

The 1979 Ford Pinto was garbage, The 1980 Ford Pinto was better but it was still [expletive] garbage.

Nothing has improved under the ACA. Costs are still out of control, the insurers and health care companies are getting insanely wealthy. Meanwhile the average person is just getting hurt more and more financially. Seriously the ACA was just a [expletive] to the insurers and health care companies. Hey guys here's a few million more customers for you. You don't have to give them better care, but you can take their money anyway. Oh yeah be sure to jack your prices up more and more every year! k thanks, love you, the American govt.

Thanks. With corporate benefits, nothing has changed for me so I only hear the polarized views of the pols and talking heads. Just wanted some other perspectives.

I pay $2 more per pay period than I did pre-ACA....haven't noticed a personal change otherwise.

There is a poster on this forum I picture in my mind at home, dressed in a cheerleaders outfit, and busting into a rousing 'rah-rah sis-boom-bah' every time the NY times pokes him/her with a stick.

You know who you are.
