Trying to militantly take over the dog...I can't recommend this organization.

My whole day was a disaster and all I did was cement my legal basis for ownership and cry.

This insanity continued until yesterday. I got a ticket for "animal at large" (back on 11/27 - when this happened) and it was the kind of ticket that required an appearance in court.

I went to court and the animal control lady (who was complete [expletive] during this entire process and is affiliated with the rescue group) showed up to make sure the judge gave me the maximum.

She lied to the judge and told him that my old dog (deceased) was often picked up by animal control and my new dog was likely to be raised the same way and they needed to come down hard on me.

Maggie had never once in her entire 15 years been picked up by any animal control in any city I have lived in. I told the judge that. He asked the animal control lady for documentation that maggie had been picked up before. Animal control lady just looked down to the ground and didn't answer.

I'm so angry.

That same animal control lady, back on 11/27, contacted the rescue group - instead of me - and tried to get my puppy released to them instead of me. I showed her all my documents - the contract that stated the rescue group was released from BOTH LIABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY and I was the owner. I showed her the documentation for the microchip which was in MY name. And she still did not want to release the puppy to me. I told her legally, she had to.

She did, but told me that if my dog ever got out again, even years from now - she would never release the dog back to me again.

These people are nuts.
