Fair enough. But, come on, the guy played great last night.

He had a good night last night. Credit where credit is due. Still couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

He did. And I really want the guy to succeed. He's an incredibly fun player to watch defensively when his head isn't up his ass and if he can get on base

FWIW Ryan is still sporting a .223 BABIP (.293 career BABIP) despite a 19.5% LD rate. He's probably still a lousy hitter but things can only get better as he recovers from the wrist injury.

Anecdotally, it seems like he has hit in some hard luck this season. Before we call him hideously awful, we should acknowledge there are about 10 people on the planet who can play SS as well as Ryan can. You appreciate that more when you watch Greene out there for a few games.

Except he's been pretty bad defensively this year as well. It's easier to bear his bad stretches of hitting when he's a gold glove SS, but he's made some mistakes there this year as well.
I think both sides of his game will get better here forward, but it's hard to keep trotting him out there to figure it out in the middle of a pennant race.

Shelby Miller threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball tonight. No walks, 5 K's. He's allowed 0 earned runs in 4 of his last 5 starts, and 5 of his last 7.
I dunno - at this point, I gotta say keep him.

Oh, and Lohse pitched 3 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits, striking out 3, walking none. So a decent rehab start for him........

UZR/150 = 9.3. Pretty good for having a bad month or so in the field.

After the Angels got Haren for peanuts and him being younger then Oswalt that definitely helps the Cardinals negotiating power in a possible trade.
