And more specifically, you can go directly to the posts tagged "STL Cardinals" on MLB Trade Rumors here:

That way you don't have to wade through a page full of "Dodgers Sign Juan Castro" links to find out that Roy Oswalt told the kid that bagged his groceries last night that Schnucks has great prices, according to Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle.

tell that to the Nats and Stephen Strasburg[\quote]

Of which I can personally attest. There were zero tickets together available in the entire ballpark tonight, and scalpers were charging 4 times as much as face value. The metro was jam packed so badly they had people get injured from the pushing trying to get onto the train going to the park. I estimate Strasburg was worth about $600,000 to the Nats over normal tonight in ticket prices, concessions, jerseys etc.

Luckily, he was scratched anyway, so we didn't miss out.

Looks like the Reds are in on Oswalt.

I was wondering when i was gonna see that. They have a lot more to offer than we do.

True, although all of the same caveats- maybe more- apply.

1) If Houston doesn't want to trade in the division, dealing with the Reds isn't any better than dealing with the Cardinals

2) If the Cardinals are having a hard time absorbing Oswalt's salary, the Reds are going to have a worse time absorbing that salary.

3) Oswalt doesn't have the same desire to go to Cincinnati as he (allegedly) does going to St. Louis

etc...

He also wouldn't carry the same marginal win value there.

Cincy upgrading is kind of weird. I don't really see where they would other than SS, bullpen or the top of the rotation.

I expect Walt to buy high on an overachieving bullpen arm, but that's about it.

Oswalt doesn't have much of a say in the matter, but if he's willing to go to the east coast, then I have to imagine he has no problem going to Cincy where he'd immidiately step in as the ace of a young promising staff in the middle of a pennant run. The Reds have the pieces, but if they're willing to give up say Travis Wood + Yonder Alonso + Zack Cozart and get the Astros to eat some salary it might be doable

His full NTC says otherwise.

I know that, but I'm sure he'd accept a deal to Cincy. It's not like he's negotiating the trades.

I don't know why you would be sure he would accept a deal there. Seems like he wants to go somewhere that wins year in and year out. Cincy is not one of those places.
