Ozark is terrible, but I keep watching it. I'm on the 5th episode and it's completely not worth it.

Obviously everyone writing and acting on the show has watched Breaking Bad. It's just poor and hackneyed. I guess they thought the viewers would empathize with the Chicago suburban white family.

boring weakly- developed characters make it all implausible. Breaking Bad did crazy implausible [expletive], but all of it had a plausible cover - Walter White mild-mannered chemistry teacher. Jason Bateman's character has no cover at all, and when he does an inevitable Houdini act out some trouble, it's befuddling as to how he is capable.

The redneck family - the writers obviously don't know rednecks. The strip club owner dude and the prior Blue Cat owner are the only ones that I'd be mildly interested in learning more about.

next episode shows a very pregnant stripper. That is the highlight.

This.....I'm watching it just because of the hilarious Lake of the Ozark & MO references. Of course they have to get the "party cove" in.

For those who have made it that far (which doesn't seem like many....MAYBE you've gotten there Michael)......

The redneck mixing it up w/ the Fed agent was about as awkward a scene I've seen on television in a long time.

I wouldn't qualify it as "terrible", I'm laughing at it just as much as I find it suspenseful....but the plot lines are definitely not plausible whatsoever.

It's not the worst, but it's not good.

I was looking forward to it too. Probably because I've known a couple of upstanding suburban family dudes that lead a bit of a double life on that lake. Nothing absurd as running from yet another mexican drug cartel, but these guys spend a lot of time down there at the family lake house doing non-family things. They could have easily extrapolated a good story in that setting for something like that with all the characters that hang out there in the redneck riviera.

Wasn't planning to try the show out until I read this.
