I hate those bleeders like Lo Duca hit.
I swear he hasn't had a hard hit ball in his entire career...
He might have caught it if he hadn't...then he fell down and the ball got away on top of it. Just poorly played all around.
I don't think I've ever seen Taguchi make a play on the wall. That's not a knock on his overall defense, which is fine, but he's just never been able to make the flashy play around the wall. We're definitely spoiled with Edmonds. I expect all our OF'ers to make catches around the wall.
Hopefully Carpenter will settle in sometime soon, but it's hard to expect too much on the first couple starts of the season. They're going to be inconsistent. That was a pretty bad sequence to Reyes.
My main problem is that Taguchi is in there for defense and it seems like he is making fewer and fewer good defensive plays all the time. He needs to be yanked for Duncan and some offense at this point.

It sure beats trying to pull all the offspeed crap that Glavine is throwing like the Cards are...
Three balls right back up the middle in their sequence and they score three runs. We yank three balls off to the left (or try to), and don't even reach base.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing. They are hitting smart. But man its annoying.
I'm spoiled by the 2003 and 2004 teams. When the Cards aren't good offensively, they're not much fun to watch. That includes last year (until the playoffs, of course).
