It's like the Cardinals and Brewers switched roles. Remember we used to do this to teams, and have them frustrated? :?:

Offense -- three hits and zero runs in six innings.
Starter -- 4 walks in five IP.
Defense -- another OF error, and a steal of home allowed.

I'm at work and not watching the game (will watch the archive tonight), and if this were one game I bet there'd be context that would explain all of this -- bad calls, hard hit balls that didn't fall, bad sun.

But this game is not so unusual, is it? This stuff happens every day. All we need is to score a couple to make it look closer than it is, then for the bullpen to give up a couple runs to let the game get completely out of hand so a come-back is out of the question, and then we've had our typical game.

what is sad is that those early 90's Mets teams scored more runs per game then our team does.

If it were '68 and the year of the pitcher our teams would still be middle of the road.

Reyes is definitely a great example where a lot of strikeouts doesn't really matter all that much and just serves to run his pitch count up more than anything else.

And in this game we have another case of what's going on this season: The Cardinals and Brewers are even in hits, but the Brewers have 4 more runs than the Cards. It's not that the offense isn't hitting. It's that they can't hit worth **** with guys on.

8 Ks now for Reyes. La-dee freakin' dah.

I agree with most of what you said here, except the runs scored. We've given up doing that part.

Miles, Eckstein, and Reyes, yea!

Remember in 04 when it didn't matter how much the Cards were down you still felt like they were in the ball game?

We knew this day was coming. I'm just glad that Albert, Jimmy and Scotty got their rings.

The Brewers haven't been to the playoffs since 1982. The Cardinals have been to four World Series and eight LCS since then. I guess the Brew Crew couldn't suck forever. I'm perfectly happy with the way things have gone for the Redbirds lately.
