Jenkins was named to the MWL All-Star Team. His numbers to this point aren't spectacular, but certainly a nice improvement over last year:

47.1 IP, 3.99 ERA, 31 K's, 22 BB's, 1.437 WHIP

He threw a 7 inning "complete game" on 5/29, allowing 1 earned run with 5 hits, 4 K's, 2 BB's. MWL teams only play 7 inning games when it is a doubleheader.

A billion guys from each team make most minor league All-Star games.

For instance, Texas League has 8 teams so a bunch of middling guys make AA team.

It's also about drawing fans, so "name" prospects almost always make it if healthy.

I've never seen the guy pitch, but as more time passes, it looks more and more like he should have gone to Baylor and played the foosball. Hope he figures it out. He still has plenty of time, but he needs to start putting it together, no?

He's still young for his level. A 20 year in the FSL. What's concerning is that his K rate has dropped and his BB rate is going up. Something to keep an eye on... he might not be entirely healthy. He still has several years to figure things out.

Edit: Scratch that. I didn't glance at the place he was playing. Saw some town with a P and immediately went to Palm Beach. Forgot we moved the MWL team to Peoria. So... still young, but almost on level for age.

I never really understood a minor league all star game. Since if you're really great at that low of a level you'll get promoted to a higher level.

I'll give you two guesses, but you'll only need one after reading the first answer:

1. Money
2. Any other fathomable reason.
