Adding salt to the wound...Otto Porter is one of the four finalists for the Naismith Award this year. I'm still bitter about the circumstances that kept him from coming to Columbia...although he's probably better for it, and I'm excited for him.

Yep, most of them. But it kind of goes both ways. Another guy is having a lot more success with the same players Haith had.

On the other hand, Haith improved upon the success that his Mizzou predecessor had.

What's Pressey's future? I've heard him and Haith have butted heads quite a bit and he's pretty much fallen off the NBA radar. Kind of hard to see him back next year. Maybe Europe or the D league?

Maybe I'm naive but I figured he'd be back just because he'd want to enhance his draft stock. Which is to say... recreate his draft stock.

Even if he had a great year I'm not sure he ever was going to be more than a second rounder because of his size. I would normally agree about him returning but it just feels hard to imagine with some of the criticism he got. I wouldnt be surprised if he heads to Europe to get paid and tries to work his way to the league from there.

I didn't follow bball this year at all, but how did Haith improve upon what Anderson did? He needs to win a tournament game before you can say that, no?

I'm talking about last year when he took the same players who had topped out as a 23-win team under Anderson, and also didn't win a tournament game. Then Haith came in and they won 30 games and got a 2 seed without any new players. And that was with the best Anderson player- Bowers- out for the year. They were pretty clearly better under Haith than the same players were under Anderson.

Besides, the tournament's not that different from the MLB playoffs. It's a crap shoot. The best you can hope for is to win as many games during the regular season as possible, and take as many chances as you can over many years as you can in the tournament.

Not that I want to defend Haith. Believe me, I don't. But credit where it's due. I don't think anyone would argue that the English/Denmon/Ratliffe class looked much better last year than they did the two previous years under CMA.

Touche. I don't know much about it, but I can't say Haith has really done much to make me excited about the future, though that may be an uneducated opinion.

Nah, I'm right there with you. They've got a solid recruiting class coming in, but the roster that returns is pretty mediocre otherwise. Especially if Pressey leaves. And Haith had some decent recruiting classes at Miami, and some good recruits in general, but the best he ever did was a bunch of NIT berths and one trip to the tournament. I hope he proves me wrong but I'm pretty short on "fhaith".

That said, he's done more than I ever expected he'd do already. With all of those transfers this year, all I really wanted was a tournament trip, and he delivered that much.
