Panera Bread did it to me again.

Had to meet someone at Panera and got some food and drink there. Tasteless Awful. Overpriced food. Their coffee sucks. That whole deal with their sandwiches soups and salads-the dude behind a counter assembling them. Doesn't even pretend there is anything going on there cooking-wise.

An apple for my daughter. Lady that took my order looked sick, judging by the buggers. Ordering was a chore-do I have a rewards card? What do I want as my side? My kid wants a fruit cup, takes 3 minutes or so to figure they are out,. Here's a cup -go fill your own drink.

I picked a dozen bagels for company over the holidays -at my wife's suggestion. Hardly any were eaten,. I gave a couple to the dog.

Now they show their calories-hardly anything that you'd consider eating is healthy.

I think even that is waning. They are going somewhere else.

It can't stay in business. It's bad, overpriced food with an attitude.

Red Lobster on the other hand ... a tried and true seafood extravaganza. Was here 20 years go, will be 20 years from now, because it's good food at a reasonable price and you don't necessarily have had to have taken a shower recently to enter or to even be looked down upon.

The kids love Breadco aka Panera. It's like Al's from Happy Days.

I have been eating really healthy since New Years. Saturday I had a whopper from BK and holy [expletive] that was like the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. BK is the anti-Panera. Cheap food that is delicious.

A little thread drift but I'll second the Whopper love after all these years. Compare that to a Big Mac, I had one of those during a moment of weakness brought on by nostalgia. God that thing was awful. I can still eat Whoppers though.

It's a testimony to marketing geniuses that McDonald's still exists and BK plays second fiddle to them.

My youngest son tried one bite of a Big Mac. He's a x-country runner, very healthy eater. Never in his life had a Big Mac until he was 18-19. We were at a Bulls game where they scored at the buzzer to win the game something like 100-98 - which meant free Big Mac's (you get a free Big Mac when they score 100 and win). For some reason, he decided we should cash in. He took one bite and then couldn't decide what to do with it. I finally gave him the sack that it came in and he spit it out, and threw the thing away
