And, here's the Bluegrass featuring Carpe Diem who'll probably be behind Pharoah and Dortmund in the books.



I'm probably missing a horse or two that will also be among the favorites, but those 3 will all probably go off at under 6 or 7 to 1. Just a guess. I'm always a homer and root for the winner of the Arkansas Derby, but I actually think american Pharoah is the best horse out there.

American Pharoah was incredibly impressive.

I just read that the Wynn has the following odds:
American Pharoah 3-1
Carpe Diem 7-2
Dortmund 4-1

Nothing fancy or really anything of value. But, they are the 3 favorites.

Here's the kentucky derby which was pretty exciting.

American Pharoah pulled it out, but it wasn't easy. You can hear espinoza say that before they go on air but the mics are hot. Probably follow CC's path of last year and win the Preakness but fall short in the Bellmont. Just my guess. It took everything he had to get past Firing Line coming down the stretch.

American Pharoah was exceptional in this derby.

I guess might as well talk about the Bellmont.

Here's the Preakness. Firing Line didn't show up for the Preakness and with Firing Line pulling up there was no one to challenge him. What that means for the Bellmont, I have no idea.

Anyway, here's the race.



I don't even know much about half the horses in the bellmont. Materiality had a disappointing Derby but is as good from a physical/speed standpoint as any horse out there. The Muhab....horse is from the middle east and pretty good but hasn't run too well in anything stateside. Tale of Verve obviously came out of [expletive] nowhere in the Preakness to take second. Watching him get cut off to the outside by divining rod in the stretch, then pull back, then pass divining rod was pretty amazing but it was in the slop. And Pharoah was pulling away from him the entire time.

In short, I don't know who to pick over pharoah, but history obviously isn't on his side.

Interesting piece that explains why no horse ever wins the triple crown anymore. Basically, horses never run a mile and a half anymore. So the triple crown contenders and the other good horses tire out, and the race is usually won by some lesser horse that doesn't run many races and is fresher.

Also a lot of blather about betting that bored me, but the part about the distances was interesting.
