I'd hate to see the post that comes after they win 99 games.

The price is ONLY going to go up - as will the volume of excuses.

Personally, I'd get rid of this ridiculous hitting coach and see if someone with a clue can help Adams, Grichuk, and Piscotty develop into real major league hitters.

It will not happen with #26 at the helm.

He views his favorite coaches the same way he views Chesterfield Valley real estate.
I'd suggest he view them more like gift knives view his thumb. (Not really, I just want to play with Matheny lore, too.)

I wouldn't mind moving on from Mabry, but I'm just fine with #26. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Mabry gets canned this year or after it, but honestly, it would be more Mo's fault than his, IMO. FTR, I'm fine with Mo, too, just angry with him for being so expletivey and/or impotent since the trade deadline.

I hope he does and puts "[expletive] Face Mc [expletive] erson" as the name on the back.

technically this should go in the FEB OF MARKET thread but.........
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Cuban outfielder Lazaro Armenteros has been cleared by Major League Baseball and is eligible to sign starting February 10.
There was a chance that "Lazarito" was going to have to wait until the July 2 signing period, but he's apparently received the good news that it won't be that long. Armenteros won't turn 17 until May, so he's obviously a long ways away from debuting in the majors. However, he's viewed as a five-tool player with loads of upside. For what it's worth, ESPN's Eric Longenhagen reported Sunday that reviews of Armenteros' January 8 showcase for major league teams were "mixed at best."
This seems like its right up the cards alley

If Armenteros were a fruit, where would he be in relation to the tree which bore him? What is his LOFOR (Lie of Fruit Over Replacement)?

"That's not to say we're going to ignore what's happening out there. But I've said it many times: We're excited about the team that we have. When you look at what's out there and how that fits with us, it's really not ideal. So in terms of directionally where we take this, it's something we'll try to keep the pulse of. Ultimately, though, I'm not all that bullish on chasing something at this time."

"We feel we have the right pieces," Mozeliak said. "I know that some people disagree and want us to do something else, but Matt Adams, having [Brandon] Moss, giving [Randal] Grichuk an opportunity to be the everyday center fielder feels right to us. If we go out and add an outfielder, where are they going to play? Who is not playing? How does that affect us? What does the short-term view look like compared to the long-term commitment? And honestly, we feel very comfortable with what we have."

"There may be times when something becomes available that makes sense for us to pursue," Mozeliak acknowledged. "I don't think anybody upstairs is closing the book on anything, but I would also caution people to understand we're not hotly pursuing anything, either. We're following markets. We're paying attention. And if it leads us to something, great. But we're certainly comfortable going in with what we have."

25 man as of today?

5 Carpenter
9 Piscotty
7 Holliday
6 Peralta
8 Grichuk
3 Moss
2 Molina
4 Wong

1. Wainwright
2. Wacha
3. Martinez
4. Leake
5. Garcia

Gyorko
Adams
Pena
Pham
Garcia

Rosenthal
Oh
Siegrist
Walden
Broxton
Maness
Lyons

Barring a trade or injury, I think 24 of those spots are locked up. The only spot up for grabs should be Greg Garcia's (and they should probably keep an outfielder over him anyway, but we don't have anyone in the OF who is qualified).
